Sounds like a good experiment to try.
However, skill level, equipment, implants, ship bonus, etc will all affect the amount and chance of salvage.
I've gotten excellent salvage from the first wreck and also from the last wreck. Even after the wrecks are one hour old. Even up to the point when they start despawning.

Originally by: Czeris That is not true. None of those things affect the amount of salvage you get from a wreck, only the chance at successfully "opening" it on each cycle. There is no way to affect the amount or quality of salvage with skills.
Chance = Amount
So, a player who has level 3 salvaging skill with Tech 1 Salvager, no implant or rig fitted will definitely get way less salvage and take way longer to get salvage compared to a player with lv 5 salvaging, Tech 2 equipment with salvage implant and rig.

My God, you people are either just way too stubborn or just too blind to read between the lines. Instead of taking everything so literally, try to think outside of the box. I guess instead of doing that you'd rather just troll.
If you have a higher chance to get salvage compared to another player, than you'll in fact get more salvage than that player. Plain and simple. WTF is so hard to understand about that?

No. You will get the same amount of salvage. It will just take more (or less) time.
You say that with lower skills you'll get "way less salvage and take way longer to get salvage" which isn't true: you will get less salvage or it will take longer. One of the two, not both. In order for your statement to be correct, the salvage chance would have to directly affect the amount ù it doesn't.
lol, if you're so correct then explain this.
I and another player farmed Part 10 of level 3 'Kidnappers Strike' for a week. He had level 3 Salvaging skill and I had level 4. We both used 1 Salvager module each. The 1st day I did all of the Salvaging and the 2nd day he did it. I did it again on the 3rd day and the 4th day was him. Both time's that he did the Salvaging it took him longer and he received less Salvage compared to me. The last few days of the mission I ended up doing all the Salvaging due to that as well as a consensus by both of us.
